After giving up the corporate life and finally having made his silversmithing hobby into a viable business, Paul Townsend and his wife Claire returned to their home town of Brighton after 17 years of living overseas. They were looking forward to checking out the local fairs to sell his products, but it soon became clear that Brighton lacked a large regular market.
Although there were some great small markets around, they were not somewhere you could spend an afternoon enjoying everything that Sussex has to offer, so they decided to run one themselves. This was something they were used to doing, as they had spent the last 10 years setting up and running hugely successful large monthly community markets in Dubai.
They looked around for a venue that would meet their exacting needs, such as free parking, easy access, large enough to hold over 80 vendors, and after some searching agreed that the Brighton Marina would be their dream location.
With a large outdoor area, restaurants, great coastal walks, shops, and being right by the sea, what more could they ask for. Brighton Marina agreed with their plan and The Brighton Market was born.
The first market was on June 4th 2017 and is now on the first Sunday of every month between 11am - 4pm. It will showcase arts, crafts, vintage, food, produce and entertainment.
The Brighton Market aims to be the destination for the entire family (including your dog) it promises to be a fun way to spend your Sunday, with free entry and free parking. Now Brighton finally has a Market to be proud of.
